Cora
Cora has extensive experience in writing, education, and interdisciplinary thinking. She received her B.A. from St. Johns College, a school that specializes in the interdisciplinary study of philosophy, literature, history, and the sciences through primary texts. She received her M.F.A in Poetry from Johns Hopkins University, where she also served as a Lecturer of Creative Writing.
During her time as a lecturer, she fostered an understanding of the craft of short fiction and poetry in her students, and saw first-time creative writers find their passion for writing, and hone their voice, style, and storytelling ability. She is committed to education that engages a student’s interest and honors their unique perspective. Her other experience includes serving as Lead Assistant Editor for The Hopkins Review. Her own poems have been published in several literary magazines.
As a creative writer herself, Cora believes in the power of writing to communicate and transfix. She believes that what makes a person stand out is how they tell their story. Writing that is original, vulnerable, confident, and has a distinctive voice can go a long way toward making a student unforgettable and undeniable. To her coaching, she brings extensive knowledge of the craft of storytelling and expression as well as a love of watching a unique story find its truest articulation.
