Toby
With more than 15 years of experience in university admissions, Toby supports students as they develop thoughtful, compelling applications to leading universities in the U.K., the United States, and around the world. His work focuses not just on where students apply, but on helping them understand who they are as learners and how to communicate that clearly through their applications.
Before joining Interface, Toby served as an admissions officer at the University of Oxford and later worked closely with students applying to highly selective universities across the U.K. and internationally. During that time, he helped hundreds of students navigate competitive admissions processes and developed a deep understanding of how admissions readers evaluate academic preparation, intellectual curiosity, and personal character.
Toby also served as an examiner for Oxford’s History Aptitude Test while completing his DPhil in the History of Science at Oxford. Alongside his admissions work, he has written several widely used guides to the U.K. application process, including The Ultimate Oxbridge Collection and The Ultimate History Aptitude Test Guide.
At Interface, Toby works with students applying to both U.K. and U.S. universities. He helps students shape the broader narrative of their applications—connecting their academic interests, extracurricular pursuits, and personal experiences into a coherent story that admissions committees can clearly understand. His approach reflects Interface’s belief that successful applicants develop across three core dimensions: academic growth, emotional maturity, and social engagement.
Toby has worked with students who have gone on to receive offers from universities including MIT, Stanford, Duke, Johns Hopkins, UNC Chapel Hill, NYU, Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, LSE, King’s College London, Edinburgh, Bristol, Warwick, Sciences Po, Sorbonne, and ETH Zurich.
He brings a calm, thoughtful presence to the application process and is particularly skilled at helping students refine complex ideas into clear, confident writing.
