The Common Application’s personal statement has become a critical component of any college application. As the number of college applicants is at its height, admissions essays are a distinguishing factor of any application. Admissions committees have come to expect high caliber writing, and most colleges require individual essay supplements. With extensive college lists, students are often saddled with multiple essays during the first semester of senior year and require in-depth coaching and editing. Marguerita’s aim as a coach and editor is to elicit a student’s own voice so the final piece is both an authentic

reflection of the student’s individuality and uniqueness as well as an outstanding piece that will capture the attention of admissions committees. She works with students from the initial draft to the final version, scrupulously revising each to perfection. She is currently assembling a collection of outstanding college essays for publication.

Since 2012, Marguerita has specialized in medical school admissions, helping applicants throughout the primary AMCAS submission and throughout the rounds of secondary essays required for individual schools. The medical school admissions process is particularly rigorous due to the fierce competition and unprecedented number of applicants. The personal statement and secondary essays are often the only distinguishing factors in a pool of equally qualified candidates. Medical schools seek students with a rare commitment to the field and exceptional drive. This must be conveyed in the essays in a convincing and unique manner, and many applicants lack the facility to express this though many are exceptionally qualified.

Medical school coaching involves multiple rounds of editing from the initial drafts to the final version of each essay. Word lengths are tailored to the specific requirements for each school and adjusted accordingly. With average numbers of applications increasing, most students require help throughout the entire application process, especially as all secondary submissions demand a two-week turnaround time. As an editor, Marguerita is scrupulous in producing top-quality writing that makes the applicant stand out. Additionally, Marguerita has published a guidebook to the AMCAS application process. Marguerita also works with applicants pursuing medical professions such as Physician’s Assistant, Doctor of Osteopathy, Occupational Therapy, and Dentistry.
